The cavesson contains a metal piece in the noseband that allows the trainer to influence the horse in a precise way. The metal piece is softly padded to protect the horse's nasal bone and ensure even pressure distribution. The noseband has three metal rings. These rings make it easy for the trainer to work correctly from both sides.

The cavesson allows the trainer to accurately influence the lateral flexion of the poll and the bending of the neck. This is necessary to allow the horse to extend its neck forward and down, allowing the horse to lift its back and work freely. This also helps the horse to be better balanced.

The cavesson must not be used without the padding on the noseband.
