The idea behind this Impact leg protector
There are many things that are important when choosing the right boots for your horse.
When you choose hard protectors, they can be heavy, not as flexible and/or not as breathable. But lightweight protectors also have disadvantages… they mainly provide less good protection.
The Impact leg protectors provide security, have been tested for strength when tapped, or when hitting a (fixed) hindrance, but are still comfortable for your horse!
Tri-Zone Impact Protection
The design of these protectors consists of five layers, each layer chosen for its unique properties.
The first layer sits directly on the skin and is made of the comfortable perforated EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate). The perforation ensures that heat can be easily dissipated and makes the boots breathable and flexible, so that it easily takes the shape of your horse's leg.
Layer two is made of strong nylon mesh; for extra protection and to prevent dirt from reaching your horse's leg.
Layer three is an inner layer made of vinyl: strong and water resistant. This layer is applied to protect the sensitive tendons. By placing several narrow strips next to each other, the shape adapts more easily to the leg, for great comfort and freedom of movement.
Layer four is made of EVA in waffle design. This material is strong, breathable and long lasting. And easy to keep clean, which we also found very important!
And as last, the fifth layer, is strategically placed for extra protection when touched. With the front leg protectors, this extra protection is located on both the front and back of the leg; at the hind leg just on the greater part of the inside.
Who are the Tri-Zone Impact leg protectors intended for?
For anyone looking for maximum protection without compromise t. a v flexibility and comfort. These leg protectors are often used:
- as a lightweight, yet strong eventing leg protector
- for polo and mounted games
- for hunting and racing: it does not add heaviness to the leg
- for good protection on the field
- and for every day!
Test
The Tri-Zone boots have been tested, not only in the laboratory, but also while riding, by (professional) riders, trainers and owners. Read more about it here in the link.
There are Impact protectors in 4 sizes. See the size chart for a guide.
Equilibrium's sizing chart is based on your horse's height, in combination with the circumference of the leg and the height of the protector.
In the table you will find the following sizes:
(A) circumference of your horse's leg (pipe)
(B) height of the protector
and
(C ) the height
If you measure the height and circumference of the horse's leg, you can use those measurements to check whether you have the right size.

For quick and easy daily maintenance, just rinse them with clean water and let them dry for next time.
But they are also easy to wash in the machine, at a maximum of 30 degrees. Before washing, close all Velcro straps and preferably use a washing bag. Let the protectors dry naturally, not in the tumble dryer or next to direct heat.
Tip: The special Velcro brush can help to remove dirt and hair from the Velcro.
